My first thought was “from within’’.
Not sure why, it just sounded good.
But I guess if you’ve lived it or experienced something then you have a good idea of how it’s going to play out.
Here’s what some other people think.

“By three methods we may learn wisdom: First, by reflection, which is noblest; Second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest.” – Confucius
Just as treasures are uncovered from the earth, so virtue appears from good deeds, and wisdom appears from a pure and peaceful mind. To walk safely through the maze of human life, one needs the light of wisdom and the guidance of virtue. – Buddha
“With the ancient is wisdom; and in length of days understanding.” – Job 12:12
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth forever.” – Psalm 111:10

While writing this, I was listening to How Am I To Know? by Billie Holiday from The Commodore Master Takes.
